Sue Croft founded Croft Insurance Services, Inc. in 2004 with a mission to provide reliable guidance to seniors navigating Medicare and health insurance decisions.


Born in Spring Hope, North Carolina in 1948, Sue graduated Cum Laude from Lynchburg College (now the University of Lynchburg) in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was also a member of the Gold Key Honor Society. In 1999, Sue furthered her professional education through the Society of Certified Senior Advisors.


Before entering the insurance field, Sue worked as a Registered Investment Advisor and held Series 7, 63, 6, and 65 licenses. Throughout her career she has received multiple industry recognitions and awards for her work helping clients understand their insurance options.


Sue was honored as “Woman of the Year” (2010–2011) by the National Association of Professional Women and has also been recognized by Strathmore’s Who’s Who Worldwide and Stanford Who’s Who for leadership and achievement in her profession. She is a long-standing member of the Bedford Chamber of Commerce.


Sue played an important role in introducing Medicare Advantage plans to the Bedford region. In 2004, after the bankruptcy of Rubatex left many retirees without coverage, she worked directly with carriers to understand and bring new Medicare options to local residents. Through her work educating hospitals, physicians, and other agents, she helped many seniors regain access to affordable healthcare coverage.

Outside the office, Sue enjoys spending time at home with her pets, shopping, and relaxing after many years of service to her community.

Melody Key

Melody Key is a Bedford, Virginia native and has been part of the Croft team since 2008. As President of Croft Insurance Services, Inc., she plays a key role in continuing the agency’s mission of providing personalized guidance and dependable service to clients.


Melody specializes in Medicare insurance as well as individual health insurance, including Marketplace and private health plans for individuals and families under age 65. She is known for taking the time to carefully compare coverage options and helping clients understand their choices before enrolling.


Her focus is not just helping clients enroll in coverage, but providing support throughout the year as needs change. Melody believes strong service and well-trained agents are essential to helping clients feel confident about their insurance decisions.


Outside the office, Melody enjoys baking, catering, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren as “MiMi.”

Les Plymale

Vice President, Insurance Broker

Registered Social Security Analyst

Les Plymale joined Croft Insurance Services, Inc. in February 2019 and brings more than 25 years of experience in customer service management to his work with clients.


Born in Lynchburg and a lifelong resident of the region, Les earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Liberty University. At Croft, he assists clients with Medicare coverage decisions and provides Social Security analysis services, helping individuals review how retirement timing and Medicare enrollment can work together.


In addition to his professional work, Les serves as the Worship Leader at his church and participates in several local ministries. He enjoys singing, reading classic literature and biographies, photography, cooking European cuisine, and visiting historical sites throughout Virginia and the East Coast.

Ann Ogden

Insurance Broker

Ann Ogden joined Croft Insurance Services, Inc. in early 2024. A Bedford native, she began her career in Life and Health Insurance after raising her five sons and previously worked with United Healthcare.


Ann assists clients primarily in the Medicare market and also works with individual health insurance through the Marketplace, as well as dental, travel insurance, and medical savings account plans.


She is committed to helping clients compare their options and understand their coverage, and she continues to provide support after enrollment whenever questions arise.


Outside of work, Ann enjoys spending time with her family and her three grandchildren.

Donna Howell

Receptionist

Donna Howell joined Croft Insurance Services, Inc. in October 2023 and is often the first person clients meet when they call or visit the office. She helps keep appointments organized and ensures the office runs smoothly.


Donna was born and raised in Campbell County and has lived in Bedford County since 2006. Before joining the Croft team, she worked at Teva Pharmaceuticals for 19 years.


Donna and her husband have one daughter and enjoy traveling to the beach, attending festivals, and taking spontaneous road trips to explore new places.

Tracy Goff

Office Technician

Tracy Goff has been part of the Croft team since 2012 and plays an important role in supporting the agency’s operations. She assists with policy processing, administrative tasks, and helps keep things running smoothly—especially during the busy Medicare Annual Enrollment Period.



Tracy is a mother of three and enjoys spending time in the Great Smoky Mountains as well as visiting the beach whenever she can.
